Evelyn E Platner-Heidt
Position
- Graduate Assistant
I graduated from Iowa State University in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy and an emphasis in plant genetics. I knew since the start of my B.S. that I wanted to help growers by developing disease and insect management plans to surpass current farming limitations. I am currently a M.S. student in Dr. Mueller and Dr. O'Neal's labs studying in the plant pathology and entomology disciplines. My research consists of developing disease and insect management programs for the cultivation of mungbean within Iowa, as well providing insight into the complex relationships mungbean shares with Iowa agricultural diseases and insect pests. I aim to gather better understanding of the viability of mungbean production in hopes to encourage growers to incorporate this crop into their farm programs as an intercrop, cover crop, or alternative cropping system. Feel free to reach out to me, as I am always open to start a conversation about mungbean cultivation!
